"From the mind of master horror maker
Clive Barker comes a new nightmare - CANDYMAN. Virginia
Madsen takes on the terror as myth meets monstrous
reality in this critically acclaimed chiller. Bred from
legend and born from blood, the hook-handed demon has
travelled the centuries in search of his ultimate victim.
Now Helen Lyle has broken the myth. She has spoken the
name five times. And in a terrifying void between reason
and insanity, the horror is about to begin. CANDYMAN, say
it five times and pray..."
Superb film, lots of tension. Big
bloke with a hook hand killing people, what more could
you want. Oh yeah and the damsel (Helen) turns real
nasty, as most Helens do.

get more than they bargained for...."

Captain
Ron
"Screen favourite
Kurt Russell teams up with funnyman Martin Short in
CAPTAIN RON, an outrageously wild comedy that's sure to
drive you overboard! Russell plays hilariously laid-back
Captain Ron - a vagabond seaman who skippers the newly
inherited Caribbean yacht of coporate executive Martin
Harvey and his family. With his dubious nautical skills,
Captain Ron leads the Harveys on a wildly amusing ocean
voyage - all the while, driving well meaning Martin
Harvey off the deep end!"
To be honest this film is only made
bearable because of Kurt Russell. However, there are some
great comedy moments.

C.H.U.D.
"What's really down there in the dark
recesses of the subways, in the maze of tunnels beneath
New Yorks sidewalks, in abandoned underground train
stations? - C.H.U.D. has a couple of pretty entertaining
answers within its title. Contamination Hazard Urban
Disposal is part of the answer - some very hot
radioactive waste has been deposited under the city by
the Nuclear Reglatory Commission who are trying to
conceal the danger. The after effects of all this
radiation provide the other part of the answer:
Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers. CHUD's
special effects are the real stars and true horror fans
will be delighted to see some real monsters on the
rampage. C.H.U.D. a gruesome evenings
entertainment."
More like an average evenings
entertainment in my part of the world. Very good. Watch
this back to back with C.H.U.D. II and you will have
difficulty sleeping. (Due to too much laughing). Look out
for John Goodman though.

C.H.U.D. II
"Kevin, Steve and Katie are an
inseperable trio of friends doing some extracurricular
snooping in the school science lab when, among the test
tubes and beakers, they discover a corpse! But before
they can say "Abra Cadaver", the body
disappears, rolling down Route 51 strapped to a gurney.
The kids need a spare stiff, and fast. At a local
hospital, they find one - but this is no ordinary corpse
- this is "Bud the Chud"! The result of a
military experiment gone haywire."
CHUD 2 is definately better than
CHUD, simply because it is less serious and therefore
more of a relaxing horror laugh.

Contamination
"The ship drifting in the harbour holds
a hideous secret. Mutilated corpses litter the gangways.
Nobody is left alive to explain the revolting, pulsating
pods that devour human flesh!!! The contamination of our
planet has begun. The total destruction of the human race
is all that lies between the Aliens and their new home!
How on earth can we destroy this bilios
CONTAMINTAION???"
Apparently this film "reaches
beyond Alien to new extremes of suspense and
terror." Maybe - it does star Louise Marleau
afterall(?). Worth seeing.

Hookers
"These girls
will do anything to get into the Zama Gata Bata Sorority.
Their initiation is to dress up as a couple of Hollywood
hookers, pick up two johns and bring them back to the
sorority. All the while the sisters of the Zama Gata Bata
are waiting to have a little fresh meat when they get
there! There is no shortage of blood and guts in this
tale of two babes lost in the bright lights of
Hollywood!"
Well, what can I say? With a title
like Cannibal Hookers, it deserves some space in my
collection.

Creepozoids
"A desperate band of nuclear survivors
stumble into a dissused shelter, seeking refuge from
deadly acid rain. But any dreams of safety are soon
shattered as it becomes apparent that the shelter is not
unoccupied. They may be safe from the dangers outside,
but they are far from safe from the horror within."
I really liked this film. It wasn't
a very convincing attempt at post nuclear war though but
the rest was great. The video claims to have the first
appearance of 'ultra slime'.

Cemetary
Man
"Francesco
Dellamorte has a bit of a problem. He's the live-in
watchman at the Buffalora Cemetery in northern Italy,
where the corpses are crawling back out of their graves
after spending a mere week in the ground. As you can
imagine, that's something of a nuisance, but if he
reports it to the authorities, they'll shut down the
cemetery to investigate, and Francesco will be out of a
job."
Good film. As this was recommended
by someone who doesn't even like horror films, it took me
a little while to finally watch it, but I'm glad I did!

Crypt of the Living Dead
"On his crusade to the Holy Land during
the Twelfth Century, King Louis VII buried his beautiful
bride, Hannah, alive in the secret caves of Vampire
island. Now, 700 years later on, Professor Bolton
discovers her burial site but is crushed to death beneath
her crumbling tomb. Bolton's son, Chris arrives to raise
the tomb and meet the Professor's assistant, Peter. The
fear-stricken islanders refuse to help as they are
terrified by Hannah's legend which says she will change
into a wolf, suck blood and be transformed into a vampire
again. Peter's sister Mary warns him not to meddle with
the tomb. A dog and a sailor are found dead, their bodies
sucked dry of blood. Horrified, Mary watches her brother
perform a service at a devil's alta dedicated to
reincarnate Hannah. Peter's wish is to be united with
Hannah, who finally sucks his blood. The villagers drive
a stake through Peter's heart. Chris finds the rampaging
Hannah, sets her alight and she falls over a cliff. Not
yet dead, her beauty crumbles as she ages 700 years.
Chris drives his stake through Hannah's heart, hoping to
free the island of vampires forever."
Why watch the film when the entire
plot is on the back cover? A mediocre film, no really
gory bits, no fun.
